StalkerZHS: preening is essentially cleaning the wings (and body in the case of birds) of useless feathers/damaged feathers, as new ones grow in to replace them. |

@Stalker Preening is how birds take care of their feathers. Other animals preen too, but it's commonly used to refer to birds. Many of them have an oil gland which they use to clean and airproof their feathers.
What you need to imagine here, then, is RD gently rubbing her nose at a point just under her wing joint, where there's a gland with a strong, clean smell unique to her... then carefully spreading the oil over each of her feathers... stroking them softly, one by one... |
