I'm a little bit peeved by this scene, but I must concede it makes sense. Zilla is an irridated iguana, unlike the dinosaur that Godzilla was. Not only that, it's built for speed, not to withstand heavy attacks.
My biggest problem with this scene is that I'll never hear the end of it, as evidenced by the above, not to mention the very nature of this pic itself. Still, Hedorah's fight in Final Wars was shorter. Neener, neener! |

Actually, FW Hedorah fought Godzilla offscreen alongside Ebirah and we only saw the outcome. Who knows what was going on underwater. |
