Instead of a winding corridor, meant to confuse opponents, I found that Mr. X like to keep his nice and straight. The same pattern repeating itself every panel so much that it felt like I was in an old acme cartoon. Not a piece was out of place. It was the kind of regularity that made a guy feel kind of creeped out after a while. Usually there'd eventually be an imperfection. A misplaced panel, or even a lint-ball randomly strewn somewhere in the hallway. But no, this just seemed to continue straight on, straight forever, straight into what I could only call...my destiny. |
