Seriously, I'm with the people who think the relationship is "canon", to the animators anyway... I'm a Lyrabon shipper, but even I know the importance of skepticism and keeping it in the fanon. But the facial expressions on them during a frame sequence you -know- the animators were paying close attention to (because of it being the obligatory Derpy appearance), I can't really pretend like the animators didn't know what they were doing with that. On a side note, I can't think of the last time I've encountered someone on here who was against a lesbian ship and was NOT against ALL lesbian ships. It seems every time, it's prefaced with something like "don't you know what friendship is" or "come on it's a kids show, they wouldn't have gays in it!". I've never seen an argument against a lesbian ship that wasn't an argument against ALL lesbian ships, and for that reason, it's hard for me to take seriously any arguments posited by apparent bigots. This comment is only as long as it is because I'm procrastinating from writing a final paper. I'm sure many of you can sympathize. |

It's almost hard for some fans to believe that Lyra or Bon Bon even had fans before people started shipping them out the wazoo. It kind of sucks if you are a Lyra or Bon Bon fan who wasn't on board with shipping them, because most of Lyra and Bon Bon's current fans would prefer to either pretend you don't exist or label you as a homophobe. |

@#765452: A lot of the shipping art of Lyra and Bon Bon is shows Lyra being borderline abusive (if not outright abusive), and even when she's not she's usually still dominating Bon Bon in some way. That's not a healthy relationship, so even if Caramel isn't very assertive he'd probably be a lot kinder to Bon Bon, and IMO that's an upgrade. |

I approve of this. Seriously, people here need to get into their heads that neither of these pairings are at all canon. That doesn't mean you can't ship them, but don't go into drawing like these and start whining about how "Bon Bon is in love with Lyra" or "Bon-Bon should not be cheating on Lyra".
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the show supposed to be about Love and tolerance to everything, including people's shipping preferences. |

To be fair, it is an entirely unprecedented reaction that I'm sure the artist was in no way expecting when completing an image that defies something the fandom has basically internalized for more than a year. How could he? No fandom ever has chimed in when it didn't agree with an interpretation of events. I mean...that's absurd. It's a good thing he has some Anonymous jag to show up and vociferously defend him - though solely through condemning his critics directly and personally, which as we know always works. I can't even imagine the alternative.
And I don't even mind this. I mean, LyraBon is obvious and established, but this is cute too. |

It's nice art. I especially like the lighting and the shading. It just makes it feel so... warm. Coupled with the adorable snuggling, the whole picture makes for a light-heartening piece. Unless you're one of <i>those</i> people I guess.
