Because for all we know, genetics doesn't work the same way for higher beings. Although she doesn't look latino to me. She looks ambiguously dark skinned(Which is good. It lets a lot of different people identify with her.) Also why is the logic here "Why is one latino?" rather then "Why is one white and why is one latino?" or "why are they different races"? Once again white is subconsciously thought of as the "normal" or "default" skin color. As people, or at least as "loving and caring" bronies, we should really address that about ourselves.

But in any case, I'm delightfully surprised by ponymonster's humanized designs. Between this and the other one, ponymonster's choice of skin colors for every character is exactly how I'd personally picture them. Twilight looks kind of asian, Dash and Scoots look a little latino, Luna's ambiguously pale to represent her affiliation with night, Celestia's ambiguously dark to represent her affiliation with sunlight, Zecora's black/african, and the rest look caucasian. ...And yeah, I admit to subconsciously imagining the majority of the characters as white. Which brings me back to my point of white being considered the standard skin tone. See, I'm guilty of it too.
*stops preaching*

Not sure what Spike's meant to be though. And hurray for Cheerilee, who deserves more art and love! =D

I'm fine with Latin Dash and Latin Celestia.

Hmm, now that I think about it, the way they say Celestia's name is exactly how you say it in English, also in written form. Yes, even more clues that Celestia is indeed Latin.

Oh my god! Celestia has purple eyes! This is a travesty! Luna has proper blue eyes like anyone should have, how can they even be sisters with different colored eyes? The nerve!

(In case you didn't get it, I was speaking metaphorically.)

Celestia looks good with darker skin. I always thought that pony hair translated best as the color of a humanized ponies clothes rather then as an indication of their skin color. Like, Twilight wears purple rather then her being purple indicates she has darker skin.

Celestia being darker skinned and rocking a white dress is visually appealing.

As Celestia and Luna are combinations of the three pony races, it would make sense for humanized versions of them to be combinations of multiple ethnicities. And making Celestia dark skinned with light clothes while Luna is light with dark clothes gives them a good contrast while still having a unified design element.

But that could just be my opinion.

@Anon: Indeed (about the coat color = clothes color.) Especially when you think about how their coat is their body hair color. So, if you shaved them...their skin wouldn't necessarily be the same color.

Why is it anytime a humanized pony has a darker skin tone, people right and left bitch about it?
I've always imagined Celestia being quite dark and Luna very pale. So, these humanized versions of them are very cute.
