A baby of a species that lives long enough to take 1000-year naps, lol. That seems to be the equivalent of about a mid-teen in a species with more normal lifespans. I don't think she returns his feelings, but it's perfectly normal for a teenager to have a crush on someone a bit older. |

Is Spike really a baby dragon or is he just small? In theory, if he was hatched and lived as a normal dragon (never met Twi or any pony), his true natural form would be the 50 ft tall monster we saw in the episode.
Dragons are supposed to hoard therefore at that age he's supposed to be THAT big. Besides, between Spike, and let's say, Pinkie Pie or Rainbow Dash, I'd say those three all act pretty child-like to me. |

I've always thought that Spike would be somewhere around 14 or 15 instead of all the mane 6, which are around 18-20, so maybe that's why Twilight calls him 'baby' from time to time. |

Amazed that no one brought this up yet: Spike hatched when Twilight was a filly, so technically, he's only a couple years younger than her. All of the mane 6 seem to be close to each other in age, so it's not the there's that much of an age difference between Spike and Rarity. |

I don't think it means that they're now a couple or the shipping is canon now, I just saw it as Rarity acknowledging that she was aware of Spike's feelings the entire time and was moved by it. If at all maybe it'll just strengthen their friendship.

^Hah. I've been shipping Spike and Rarity since the first episode aired and even I could tell you this will be forgotten.
Really, the only thing we can hope for is a small sign of affection from Rarity during the final episode, leaving it for interpretation but leaning slightly towards the ship, thus sealing it in the minds of (the majority) of the fandom forevermore. |
