My interpretation of the doctor scene. I know there is little he can do about a dragon, but he could have been a bit more sensitive about the subject.

I had this in mind to.

When I heard she was taking him to the VET I was like "Wow... poor Spike..."

Yeah, that sucks for him. Especially seeing how he's best pony.

Take him out behind the barn, Miss Sparkle.

I thought this episode had a lot to say about the place dragon's had in Equestrian Society. The doctor did say something to the effect of "The problem is... He's a dragon!" And neither the doctor nor the vet really treated Spike with any respect

^ In their defense, he didn't seem like an intelligent being at that time. Maybe they would've treaten him with more respect if he'd been able to form coherent sentences.

The vet said that she had never seen a dragon before, and the other dragons we've seen live in caves.
I assume Spike is one of the only domesticated dragons.

With so many sentient races, you'd think there'd be more specialists. I mean, even if it's a diamond dog or a sea serpent, you can't just put it down if pony medicine doesn't work?

Twilight was useless in this episode, heck everybody was useless in this episode. Spike was saved by himself thanks to his memories about Rarity, but nobody really nobody could help him.

So, Twilight was put in charge of raising a baby dragon, but never actually read a book on the subject?! Nerd Fail!

If he was the first dragon to be raised by ponies it just might be that there were no books written on the subject.

And nobody ever even had the remote thought of taking him to see Fluttershy, the animal specialist.

No way Spike is the first dragon among ponies in Equestria. Hatching a dragon egg is an entrance exam. Probably just the first in Ponyville.

Should have done it the Cecil way. In "Sitting Ducks," Cecil is a dentist, in practice mostly, as the ducks don't have teeth. Finally, along comes Aldo with a big toothache, and he can practice his craft he's been studying so long for.

I guess the doctor didn't think it would be practical to learn to care for dragons. Just fillies and colts. A specialist, pretty much.

maybe a Vet is just of pony's verson of a doctor who takes care of the other non-pony races, like how to them a brithday suit is a suit you wear on your brithday.

Most dragons would probably kill you if you called them a pet.
