It's possible that dragons have a variety of body shapes, like dogs, but it's the conditions the egg is hatched in that determines the physiology. Like how sex in alligators/crocodiles is determined by temperature. |

Maybe dragons get their wings when they're able to reconcile their greed with who they are? I wouldn't be surprised, considering how ridiculous the growth cycle is already.
Kind of like a "coming of age" thing. You may be gigantic, but you're still a baby until you get your wings. |
