If this one does indeed turn out to be a flop, I apologize, it was one of those strips I had to get out of the way so I could get back to the funny stuff I'm doing. Sorry for the preachy nature of it (and the disjointed delivery of the point).

I'd say "nail to the head", but nail is a rather impolite description for a nuclear submarine.

Cool theory, bro. Holds some good theoretical truths to it, anybody can get behind it as well. Still somewhat flawed, but agreeable.

The end panel however may just describe most of the fans who JUST want to fuck these ponies...

Personally I can't see myself doing that, and I've masturbated to some sick shit in my time.

@Terry: Yup. The letters are a bit saturated, but I didn't have problem to follow the whole context itself.

This is a really good strip, the punchline at the end is perfect.

The rest of it? Very deep, well thought out, and it is a great explanation.

I agree it all boils down to humanization. The show wouldn't be as popular without all the interesting characterization. I honestly see them more as people than ponies. And I believe that it's that trait that draws such "attention". At least I hope it is. It's interesting how if they were aliens people would probably be more accepting. just look at Mass Effect, Star Wars and Star Trek.

Did you hear that everypony?

That's how it sounds when somepony hits a nail right in the head and gets to the point.

"And what's that other sound?"

Me laughing my ass off because this is really funny ^_^

You know, a lot of the same arguments have been used to justify the actions of furries. Even that Law and Order episode had something like that.

That includes the last panel.

I'm just surprised at someone going through with writing an articulate opinion for a change. It's refreshing. Damn our standards are low.

I do agree that most cartoon characters are basically humans in animal skin (why else would a cat hate Mondays or eat lasagna?) What I find strange is that not only these ponies are depicted young, but cartoon characters are generally endowed with child-like characteristics (large eyes, etc.)

So guess what, you weren't a bestialist after all! You were merely a pedophile!

...Just kidding. Take 2: cartoon character depictions aren't meant to bring to mind children. Rather, just as there exists the idea of a "sensory homunculus", there is also a 'social homonculus' to contain the parts of the body that we pay attention to during social interaction, and it should come as no surprise that this is dominated by the face, then the eyes, followed by parts in order of how they can be used for body language. And that is what cartoon characters embody.

SImilarly, even young viewers like to play pretend that two characters are in love, even in shows for children where it has no place. Drawing characters in sexual positions are just a natural extension of our hunger for obligatory romantic subplots, and the responsibility for satisfying this need is shifted to the fan artists from the official shows so that our expectations of public decency can be upheld.

Or, you know, people are just pervs.

Or, maybe both are true, and such a thin line is the reason for 'furry hate' as people are trying to protect those narrow borders where 'innocent' slips into the realm of 'perverted'.

Ok i thought a lot about this issue. Here goes. If both parties are of a designated age and its mutually consensual and if both parties are fully aware of what intercourse means (and can articulate said want through speech/writing... intelligible means), then I really don't see a problem. And can't begrudge anyone.

^This.

Also, what about magic? Hypothetically, Twilight is powerful enough to turn a human into a pony, or vice versa. Plus, Nightmare moon was a versatile shapeshifter and Luna is slowly regaining her power.

Woha, i never thought you had it in you, to write such a deep and thought-through explanation which actually makes some sense.
And then you got me with the last panel, laughed so hard, my ribs still hurts. XD

Your next pic must be some damn crazy shit though to outbalance all the intelligence you´ve put into this strip. :P

My two cents: Both views are correct and together they cover all of us run off the mill weirdos.

Freudian view of motivation boils down to three things: sex, violence and a third thing I frankly cant remember. Most likely something to do with being the back leader who gets all the bitches. This view of humanity describes people who just want to mentally fuck something. Anything that can be depicted suggestively goes. The art genre choice is random.

Then there is the Maslow's view of motivation where sex is is just one thing you would like to have after you have food and shelter, but you also grave friendship, love, prestige, self actualisation and dozen other things. This view describes people who want to feel that deep connection and mix in their graving for sex. Anything that can be depicted having emotions and communicating goes. The art genre of choice is random.

Lets just love, tolerate and gawk at ponies in maid uniforms.

Understood it, enjoyed it, absolutely true on both ends. The emotional and personal connections for many make it that much more intimate for them.

also, some of them just want to fuck tiny horses.

If you look up horse behavior, you will find the shows writers are rather on spot.

More or less horses are a prey animal and have a very strong flight reflex, as a result they will see EVERYTHING new are a preditor, and I do mean everything, but at the same time very curious.

This is why they think Zecora would eat them but once they learn she wouldn't they quickly accept her as part of the town.

Could be both. Me, I'm of the former. I especially wish Luna and Fluttershy were real.

Actually I find the "Prince Charming" idea to be part of the problem. Snow White is willing to a) not give a second glance to anyone because she's waiting for her prince to show up. b) throw away not just one but seven devoted and hardworking paramors for the first gigolo on a stalion that she sees.
Or maybe more then a few Snows are like that woman from the Dudley Doo-Right cartoons who really likes his horse, who knows.
