Basically it's at first making fun of how predictable episodes where, just to break the mood by showing a rich colt who isn't a jerk. It's because almost (if not all) rich ponies always are spoiled or stuck up jerks. |

Exactly the same for me. I figured out Mare-doWell with the dam scene and Tank as soon as the song started, but when they revealed Rarity I was all like "Buh-huh-whuuu!?" *Rewind* "She had blue eyes and didn't say a word! How did I not catch this!"
I really liked that Fancy_Pants turned out to be a pretty cool guy, didn't see it coming but wasn't as spit-take like Rarity. |

I didn't realize that it was Rarity either, although... I wasn't thinking about the possibility at the time(Come to think of it, I didn't think about Mare Do Well's identity that much... Although I did make a few joking guesses).
