The subject will NEVER be discussed on the show for the following reasons:
A: its a children's show and reproduction is a topic that just doesn't belong. B: it could confuse a child about how all living things reproduce. C: It's still a kids cartoon D: The producers, parents, network executives and parents would create a shit storm about it so large if you multiplied the size and destructive power of katrina times 3 you still wouldn't be a 10th the size of the huge mungle fuck fest that all of those combined people would create. |

The only cartoon I know of that ever talked about reproduction was the Smurfs and even then they just said that the stork brought baby Smurfs to the Smurf village and no reproduction was needed. |

No. One of the reasons I stopped following that cute little Pinkie and Fluttershy Tumblr was because it decided to post a bunch of stupid shit trying to say that foals could be birthed magically between F/F and M/M.
People, I'm happy for any pairing ever, but please keep magical butt babies out of the fandom. It's stupid, it's ridiculous, and it brings the already touchy subject of shipping into an extremely creepy light. Ponies have sex. If it's F/M it makes babies. If it's not, no babies. Got it? Good. |

Not necessarily i think. We don't know the male to female ratio of equestria and take into consideration its a cartoon for little girls still so they're gonna show females more than males to begin with.
I think maybe the strongest point in this conversation is the fact that rarity had the hots for prince whatever his face was. I don't see why she would get a hard on for a colt if no sexual attraction was involved at all. If you look at what a sexual attraction is in brain chemistry then you would know that if the ponies had always reproduced magically they wouldn't have any need for the ability to have physical / sexual attractions to one another. And also if you gave a shit about what i've said or what other people have said here you should probably ponder upon this more than anything: ITS A FUCKING CARTOON. |

I guess one could technically argue that they could still have parents and it could be magical but wouldn't that require them to all be unicorns for them to reproduce? and if they're not a unicorn does that make them sterile? I supposed one could again argue maybe there's a third party involved but to me all the magical stuff just seems to have loops holes in how it all works. To me the bottom line is this: Ponies Fuck each other like the rest of us. |

I did catch an anon (I think) saying that reproduction doesn't belong on children's shows. That's something I strongly disagree with. If we are ever to be mature about sex, and especially if we are ever to ask children to be mature about it when they start having it, we must be able to talk to them about it. And that doesn't mean a private talk parent to child, cause they may not listen or care, and certainly will find out about sex long before a parent realizes it's time for a talk (plus separating it out so much from everything else really puts unneeded emphasis on it. sex is a part of life, highlighting it like that may be a bad idea considering societal pressures surrounding it.) tl;dr having ponies reproduce the old-fashioned way is a step in the right direction. actually talking about it in show would be better tho. |

in terms of makig reproduction for f/f, I do know a way it could feasibly work with science for the most part.
the "father" makes a stem cell donation. IRL, it is very possible to make viable sperm cells from stem cells. the person helping the couple out uses those artificial sperm to perform in-virto fertilization. ta-da! you now have a child with 2 biological mothers. the best part is this procedure has been done IRL to mice. |

Faust said they reproduce only via conventional mammalian reproduction? Well, she also said they don't approve of alcohol and only have sex as married couples, so I think we're collectively far past actually caring what she says about the show unless it reinforces our personal fanon. |
