@Al
I wasn't going to say anything, but Celestia is missing most of her rear legs too... It's a cute idea though. Balanced criticism? Well I tried. |

If she cancelled it, good. Nightmare Night was a complete hell for her, and the entire episode was awful. |

*Cancelled and she is missing her wings... |

Anon 804, I think you might be missing the point of the episode. If you're looking for friends, you don't go up to a group of people and say "Hi, I'm your new friend. Also, we're not going to do any of the stuff you've been enjoying anymore. We're going to do things my way now, won't that be super?"
The episode was about sharing friendship with others, and that means accepting what they have to offer, even if it wasn't what you were expecting. |
| Anonymous #746928 7 months ago |
^ Actually, the problem is that she wanted to start anew to to rebuild her reputation because of the Nightmare Moon incident. What she got instead was being forced to being stuck to the past to be "accepted". In other words, she was cursed to not forget her bad memories because the other ponies wouldn't collaborate.
"Sometimes it's fun to be scared"; not if it means hurting one atoner's reputation even more, Pinkie Pie. |

> Watch random FiM episode > The episode was about sharing friendship with others "Well, duh!" |

^^
Or Luna accepted that part of her life and turned it into something good. |
| Anonymous #747133 7 months ago |
^ Unfortunately, it doesn't make the episode any better. |

@Anon 928
I'd love it if everyone worshipped me for no particular reason, but since thats not going to happen, I need to do good things if I want people to respect me. Ponies enjoyed Nightmare Night for years and years, and Luna wanted to take that away from them without realizing the hurt it was going to cause. But in the end, she realized that she didn't have to change who she was, didn't have to emulate any other pony, and in turn, the citizens of Equestria didn't have to change who they were, didn't need to change their traditions in order to fit her whims. They got along just fine. There's more to being in charge than just getting your way all the time. |

Imagine if Jesus Christ came down from heaven in all his glory or whatever, and says "Hey guys, I thought I told you to be nice to each other. From now on, instead of tackling each other in football, the players on both teams will hug each other and politely discuss who should carry the ball to the goal next."
Would people enjoy that? |

You two are COMPLETELY missing the point. |

Not being treated like the very embodiment of evil or having a holiday based entirely around unfairly demonizing you doesn't seem like much to ask. No one gave the slightest bit of consideration to how Luna felt. There was no "offer of friendship" to her, she was expected to simply accept that people enjoyed treating her like a monster, even though it made her very upset. |
| Anonymous #748503 7 months ago |
#213 Demonize nothing - if anything, Luna's image had been softened over the years.
Have you considered the fact that, rather than being seen as the embodiment of darkness and evil, Nightmare Moon had been refashioned into a boogeyman that everyone knew was just fun and games? Luna didn't want ponies seeing her as a monster. What she learned in that episode is that nopony ever did, at least not in this day and age. Didn't you see Pip's reaction? The kids ADORED her, even more so when Luna began actively taking part in the games. The adults were worried not because she was Nightmare Moon, but because she was a Princess and they were worried they would inadvertantly piss her off - just look at how they treat Celestia in "A Bird in the Hoof", it's the same thing once you get down to it. |

That only proves how little "didn't really mean it" actually matters. They still treated her like a monster without paying the slightest thought to her feelings. The lesson to be learned is "if you're being bullied, you should just shut up and understand, because they're entitled to do what they feel like and what you want doesn't matter". |

First of all, figures of state are not allowed to play the "my subjects were mean to me," card. Sorry, but they're allowed to have grievances. Second, she DID try to destroy the world.
Third. There's often more than one way you can take something someone else does. The friendly one is usually to give them the benefit of the doubt. Once Luna tried to understand what the festival was about, she enjoyed it herself. |
| Anonymous #752748 7 months ago |
You sure like talking around the issue, don't you? It's almost like you aren't even reading anything but your own preconcieved, nonsensically extreme arguments.
Fact: They lied about Luna's actions to make her look bad because it was funny. Fact: Nobody cared how Luna felt abou this. |
| YouCloppinToFoalsBro #752758 7 months ago |
You care more about this than Luna did. |

I liked the episode. It wasn't that the ponies demofied her (her going nutty and trying to cause eternal night resulting in her sister trapping her in the moon did that).
Over the centuries they forgot that she actually existed. She became a myth, a fictional boogyman that kids could have fun with for a silly holiday. When the real deal shows up, the adults are afraid of offending her, and she thinks its personal; which it wasn't (as I said they didn't even think she was real till she came back). and trying to change the custom wouldn't help. Imagine if Jesus came back and got all pissy about Easter and Christmas; or to be more accurate what if some diety of death showed up out of no where and it turned out Halloween was all about them originally, and they got annoyed thinking it was meant to insult her/him when its not. |
