Someone didn't notice that Rarity basically punished herself. She ran herself absolutely ragged trying to please everyone at once. And she did (partially) confess at the end, but no one really cared. You're better off staying mad about Mare Do Well. Remember kids, never talk to your friends about their behavior. Always scheme behind their backs and humiliate them. That'll teach em'! |

It's probably a more realistic representation. It's very possible to get away with lies in getting what you want - in fact, the entire practice of many, many human things is founded upon lying to yourself and others.
It's not like it's "wrong" or anything, either. So... I don't know what you're all upset about. |

Party of One was technically harmless white lying to cover for the fact they were going to throw a party (The fact Pinkie had a problem with it is more due to her own mental issue and not the lies themself). Rarity's lying in the recent ep was COMPLETELY out of selfishness on her part. That being said, I am of the view that she did "pay" for it enough with the stress she went under and the fact her friends showed up unexpectedly and so forced her to change her plans and ultimately deal with the situation. She ultimately came clean (sort of) and supported and stood by her friends in the end despite her initial selfishness. Also just FYI, CL has stated she enjoyed this episode as well, its not like she hates Rarity or anything. |

I don't know how many of you managed to get tangled in their own lies at some point in their lives...
There's no such thing as getting away without any consequences -- lying is its own punishment if you fall too deep into it. In fact, when lies are eventually found out it's a cathartic experience. The moment you don't need to be constantly vigilant not to let anything slip out really takes a great weight off your chest. I feel for Rarity in the last episode. I can only wish for you folks not to have to experience it first-hand. |

Valid points those above... however...
There is no hint of any kind to indicate that he got found out or not, she could very well have and been forgiven or she got away easy-like. Lying can indeed be a punishment of its own... especially when they hurt someone else (fortunately our favorite marshmallow pony didn't hurt anyone). The only way I could have been upset about her lying is that she didn't regret it at all. |
