Pinkie Pie had no idea it was a Sonic Rainboom at the time. Dumbbell either denies it to keep Rainbow Dash down or also didn't know what it was. Simple. |

This is the same universe where Canterlot people can not recognize the Wearers of the Elements of Harmony even with the big celebration and the stain glass window with their faces on it.

Perhaps they simply couldn't believe what they were seeing and their brains subconsciously "blocked" the event. They saw it, but they can't remember it. Has happened to some humans in emergency situations. |

They saw Rainbow Dash move very fast.
Once she was out of sight, they saw a rainbow. That does NOT mean one equals the other, and there was no reason for them to connect the two. Remember, pegasi can go sonic all the time, so that's nothing special. And CallMeAl pointed out Pinkie Pie's reasons. Now where'd I put my Failhorn? |

The fact that Rainbow Dash stated that she was only able to do the sonic rainboom once as a filly would make it very difficult for her to prove that she had could do it. |
