there's probably a lot of xenophobia in canterlot, leading to them being genetically removed from some of the less xenophobic places. that is probably why taller stallions with larger horns are more common there.
plus, we all know how much inbreeding nobility used to have a problem with, so that could have had a hand in matters as well. |

It's hardly surprising that the mares near the pinnacle of society would try to look a little like Celestia. The nobility would've been emulating her for a thousand years, that's bound to have an impact on the local gene pool (if Blueblood's any indication that impact might even be direct at times). |

The rich are genetically superior in Equestria.
Just like real life. |

Cartoon Lion called her by her name.
It's official, she's now Fleur-de-Lis. |

#457 I could list a bunch of important people you don't know the faces or names of. And Equestria doesn't have the media saturation of our world. Plus we are dealing with insular, upper-class twits.
Though they should have recognized Twilight. She was Celestia's official greeter during the last GGG and that would be remembered. |

#733637 Pretty sure if earth was saved by a group of 6 magical badasses, that most of the planet would know them |

...it's a kid's show you idiots. Of course there isn't that much continuity. |

#545 You'd be surprised. Before our planet had a worldwide media network, most of the important events went under the radar for several countries.
Seeing as there's no telephone polls or anything of the sort, they probably don't have a world-wide media system either. Either that, or most of them are complete dicks. (Not including Fancy Pants because he is awesome.) |

According to Fleur's cutie mark, she's part of the Third Row Saints. |

Look at that Smug Bastard (tm) grin.
"Oh, quite right. I am indeed, as they say; 'tapping that'." |

1. Canterlot ponies are tall unicorns for design reasons and not for logical lore setting complex-biology reasons (though a retroactive reason can be easily made up later on in the show life.)
2. Twilight was Celestia's star student for 10 years and ought to be recognized for that reason alone. But then again, Twilight didn't recognize a phoenix despite Philomena being there those 10 years too. So she was probably so damn shut in /nobody/ ever noticed her. 3. The only time anyone outside of Ponyville ever witnessed the Elements of Harmony stand against a force of chaos, they failed. Who would believe the small-town hicks when they say ALL SIX of the heroes were from their random country town? (Celestia probably put them there on purpose to hide them so no one attempted to sabotage or assassinate them.) 4. Both Princesses are tall and fairly slender (and seem more slender due to their height) and that's why "supermodel" characters like Fleur are literally Luna with no wings. |
