I think of M/M shipping as a necessity for intelligent creatures dwelling in communities and subject to a breeding cycle. At any given time they could easily be around several mares in heat who are not going to mate with them. Riles a colt up, makes him distracted. It's just right for an older, more together, caring friend to help him out. |

It makes sense from an in-universe point of view. Given that the population seems to be about 85-15 female to male, having a f/f relationship is common due to the gender distribution, but a m/m relationship means taking two males out of that small group, which would be frowned upon. |

We don't even know for certain if the gender ratio is unequal. Okay in Ponyville the ratio is 10:1 but that might just be an aberration it seems just to be the place where the crazed females get sent into exile, certainly Celestia has no trouble filling her Royal Legion of guard ponies with young and fit stallions.
It makes sense that in a Matriarchy the top woman would keep all her boytoys away from the other girls. |

I have a running personal theory[1] that the vast majority of ponies are actually bisexual and male-male reproduction[2] is just as viable as female-female reproduction (its magic, motherfuckers, I don't have to explain shit) and male-female reproduction.
Of course, this leads to two things: 1. Ponies which are heterosexual or homosexual are the ones considered weird. 2. Building on the above, 'fillyfooler' and 'coltcuddler' become gender-neutral terms that can be applied to male AND female ponies. So there's my attempt at creating sexual-culture norms in the wonderful world of ponies. [1]I don't really have a 'One True Fandom' except for very few area's. So I may run with this at times and I may not. [2]No, I'm not a Yaoi shipper. However, I figure that magic solves alot of problems and what could go wrong with a little fairness for the guys (please don't answer that). |

why is there fewer males to females? cuz hasbro said so that's why. they wanna sell dolls to girls and girls don't brush the hair of boys. if hasbro had their way, there wouldn't have been boys at all. it was lauren that forced the issue and put the males in. that's why there's been more males as the seasons go on. there is no in show reason. the ratio is most likely even. normal mammalian reproduction.

I don't think the Back Room is a good example to proove that Bronies don't like M/M shipping. It's a pretty weired Fic that started as a Trollfic. As for myself, I didn't like that part because of the incest. But it wasn't as bad as the Spike/ Applebloom. |

I don't like F/F and M/M, but I support the right for gays to get married IRL. I just don't see the appeal. I don't like M/M because I am not gay and can not relate to gay couples. I don't like F/F because again, that's something I can't relate too and I don't understand why other men think lesbians are hot. It's not like they'll ever have you or anything.

Also, the vast majority of men who sexually assault other men in prison identify themselves as heterosexual. The reason for this is that it's a matter of controlling the other individual rather than actual attraction.
Gay men who are actually gay actually do in fact have attraction towards each other. Also, back to the show. I agree that the genders are probably more even than what they show of the population in ponyville. It's just that this is a show aimed at little girls and female characters are more relatable for them. |

How did I miss this? Ah, well. I agree with this message. I've perused enough m/m art on ponibooru to safely say it is teeming with homophobes with double standards. It'a simply because the majority of bronies are self-identifying heterosexual males (the actual probability of being 100% straight is 1/7), who can't stand to see two guys together. Most likely, this is them repressing their own latent bisexual feelings, and I find it far more alarming that a commonly cited reason is that it's sexually gross. Who ever said anyone was having sex? They're adorable cartoon ponies AKA the least fappable thing that isn't gross or bad. This implies that they're into f/f ponies for their sexual aspect, in which case I feel a whole lot better being a colt-cuddler than what they evidently are. |

There is no evidence that homosexuality is something you're born with. As a homosexual, I can safely say that it develops psychologically, but from a very young age. Psychosexual development doesn't begin with adolescence, it begins practically out of infancy. Some people see the argument that homosexuality is not genetic as saying that it is a choice.
