Nyx is Nightmare Moon reborn it was a cults attempt to bring the Dark Mare of the night back. She was created with a spell that involves the remnants of Night Mare Moon's armor and some of Twilight's blood.(don't worry it's not much). But the spell didn't work due to it being interrupted. After traveling back around to the area where the spell was done she essentially found Nyx and took her in as her daughter. |
