Rev 8, still a WIP. Check out the source (and download from DA) for a much larger image.

I don't know how to feel right now... im... impressed?...
You guys really need to branch off into your own thing... really...
This is incredible, very interesting, gives a fuck load of development potential and its just a map!
The story ideas are already flowing through my imagination.
I can see so much potential in creating a land off of this, yet I know that it is ultimately restricted my little pony and those who like the show's fanfiction.
For your own good, whatever you plan to do with this, I highly suggest you make it its own thing and not just fanfiction.

@MaroonBunyip Definitely, I have a high-fantasy/steampunk-esque novel idea on the backburner with a world much larger and better developed than this (which I started a map for, it's on my DA, but was never finished).

But in the meantime, I wanted a fun writing project to practice my writing with. It's a fun challenge to create a world around one that already exists.

ahh, good.
I just say so because this map really just jumps out at me.
I like maps, but wow!.
Smart move with the practising idea though.

I always love looking at material like this. Fictitious maps are always cool. Here's hoping you keep working on this.

Whoa... nice!

But how can a sea be forgotten and still be labeled on the map?

^ by not knowing what lies beyond but at one point you did?
im assuming thats the fault of that echo area...
oh god... the ideas and imagination... they're too numerous...

@JP It's called the forgotten sea because those that sail it seem to return without any memory of their journey - only the compelling desire to return home.

My favorite part of this map is the Breach. I'm guessing it leads to the real world, and gets bigger everytime Pinkie breaks the 4th Wall.

What's the pink line? Is it some sort of mystery mist, closing off from the rest of the world that which it engulfs? :P

@Vree Those are the ley lines, see: http://wtwe.wikia.com/wiki/The_Ley_Lines

@853 Go to the source on DA, and click 'download image' -> it's pretty massive. If you mean make /that/ bigger, then I'll be making close-up maps of the countries that are relevant to my fic later on.

By Odin's beard! There is an Asgard on the map!

The only thing that could make it better if there is a Skyrim as well.

@123 XDDD I was going to, but I took an arrow in the knee...

But my story has a few skyrim references for sharp knee-shooters out there <_<

That northwest part looks specially interesting. For some reason, the Forgotten Sea makes me think about the Dead Sea/Sea of Eden from Chrono Cross.

Will there be any reference of humans in your story?

Just wondering.

@371 I'll put it this way: as far as the residents of my world are concerned, humans don't exist and no one would know what a human was. But just because they don't know doesn't prove anything ;)

@nsko I'm betting that, if humans are somewhere on this map, they'd be in The Lost World/The Echo. These both seem like good and mysterious locales, and after reading up on your story on its wiki, I'm betting that humans could be one of the few creatures able to survive direct exposure to the "ley energy". It would make it easy to hide out away from the ponies/other races if a glowing wall of death only humans could survive/find a way through blocked the border.

Humans obviously live in the high mountains, leaving footprints in the snow that scares mountaieering ponies, who have dubbed them "bighoof".

Is Vaporia a sky city like Cloudsdale? Only it looks like it is made of clouds (vapor)

What projection, and doesn't this reveal a hideously ponycentric version of the world?
nsko

@554 Very possible. I'd like to think the wiki as an unreliable narrator – it doesn't know everything.

@270 Vaporia is a cloud *continent*; many, many times larger than Cloudsdale. Governed by a the Dragons (Brisk), Pegasi (Aurora), and Griffin (Aerieanis), all its cities are either made of vapor/clouds, or out of enchanted material.

@Aggressively-Pastel ponycentric version of our world? It could, but it wasn't completely intentionally. I feel it's canon to have punny names reflecting real world locations rather than more realistic fantasy names.

Should put "Here be humans" on one of the unexplored edges, like a medieval map.
