Yeah, to get a Butterfly in a Jar is actually really difficult, they're super rare somehow.
I only have a bee in a jar so far. |

There is only one of each insect in a jar. And there are 4 I think. Bee, Butterfly, and I haven't found the others. They serve no purpose though. |

I don't know about the other insects in jars, but butterfly in the jar has "pig" written on the underside of the cork. I threw it in a lake. |
