I hate it when bronies and furries get lumped together. We're different from them.
From what I can tell, furries are people who have a sexual interest in animals or anthro animals. Bronies are people who like MLP: FiM in a non-sexual way. Granted, the categories overlap, but saying all bronies are furries is like saying all furries are bronies. Neither is true. |

Anon. Your attitude is the reason furries tend to hate the hell out of us.
Furries are just people who like anthro animals. Just as Bronies are just people who like MLP FiM. The people who want to have sex with them are not the representation of the fandom. If you agree that not all Bronies have a sexual interest, surely you could agree with the same argument being made for furries? right? |

Much as I can't stand the furries that whine constantly about how their fandom isn't entirely sexual, it's true. And people who have a sexual interest in actual animals are an entirely different group of people called zoophiles who themselves can be furries. As for bronies not being furries...yeah, we kinda are. I mean, the initial pre-internet-pariah-status definition for a furry was someone interested in anthropomorphic animals in some fashion. Sort of an umbrella term like otaku. TL;DR: furries don't necessarily fuck animals and bronies could be considered furries. |

Whereas I don't necessarily have any ill will towards furries, I can't stand it when someone tries to lump us in with them. From what you say, furries are nonspecific. Bronies, on the other hand, ARE specific. You can't say that anyone who likes MLP is a furry, because they lack every other aspect of being a furry. It's like saying that because criminals eat bread, everyone who eats bread is a criminal. It's just generally wrong. (Not that I'm comparing furries to criminals, mind. Just an example.) So please, use common sense, and don't go preaching that we're furries. We're not, and it just causes shitstorm upon shitstorm. |
