They're ancillary to canon; if the toy mentions something that doesn't contradict the show, it's canon until it does. The usual tier is Show(but not songs on the show)>Word of God>Songs from the show>Other official songs and stories>toys>fanon |

I don't think toys should be considered canon at all. They make too many mistakes and go against the show way too often to be credible. |

I've always thought of there as being three canons, myself. There's the show (show and other official stories and whatnot), fanon (Lyra/Bonbon, Derpy, Whooves) and toynon (where Celestia is pink and Pinkie Pie is allowed to operate heavy machinery). |

Using the toy names is pointless, it seems almost like they are labeled with a random-word generator. Even ponies clearly named in the show just get random names. |

...Has anybody actually thought that "The Great and Powerful Trixie" was a stage name for 'Lunamoon'? Wouldn't that avoid most of the complaints...or that the name could of been foreign exclusive? Srsly, I think everybody taking it too badly sometimes...won't this makes us look bad? ._. |

The show, and the toys. We know the show. In the toy universe, ponies have cars and trucks. Celestia is bright pink. Angel is female. Owlicious is a pink twit. Carousel boutique is just a carousel. Applejack rarely wear her hat and if she does, her hat is pink. Baby ponies are horribly deformed abobinations. Applebloom's real name is Scootaloo. Ect... |
