can someone tell me how the thing with the talking animals works? cows can talk right? other animals like mice and stuff cant, but still have a pony/human-like conscience/feelings/thoughts? how is that determined? o_O |

All animals can talk or at the very least emote as fully as any pony. The reason why some are pets and some work for a living (like ponies) has more to do with capability. Ponies are the most capable creatures, so they feel led to take on 'pets' who are less capable creatures that they have learned to love. It's a little screwed up, like a form of slavery...but they don't really address that. |

except fish. even fluttershy feeds them to other animals without second thought. sucks for them i guess...
plus, why the hell do they need fences for the cows? they are practically no different from earth ponies, yet somehow agree to be locked up and "used" for their milk. they could be more productive, much like earth ponies, right? |
