But Rainbow Dash is lesbian... |
| Anonymous #698216 8 months ago |
A mental breakdown episode for Dash might involve her finding out about her true sexuality.
FiM will then be moved to the after-midnight program. :D Despite being straight myself I'm glad that the situation for homosexual people here in europe is so much more relaxed than in the US. |

Sure, dark spots remain. Should have said Germany instead. Its hardly an issue here. |
| Scumbag_Crowley #698258 8 months ago |
The fact she seems to swoon over Spitfire suggests lesbianism, but the fact she goes off with two other 'Bolts in Sonic Rainboom suggest straight. Compromise? Bisexual, since she's still finding herself in her over-teen age. |
| D_Pony #698270 8 months ago |
Dashie is Wonderbolt-sexual, as simple as that |
| Anonymous #698283 8 months ago |
Asexual until proven otherwise |
| ClavisRozen #698291 8 months ago |
^ Agreed. In fact that goes for every character in the show for me. |
| Doctor_Whooves #698297 8 months ago |
Most of Europe seems pretty chill. Even highly Catholic Portugal legalized same-sex marriage not that long ago, whereas you have other places that pride themselves on equality and being forward-thinking that are still as ass-backwards as they were 150 years ago.
While I'm straight myself, I'm glad to live in a country that allows same-sex marriage, and has for over 6 years now. No country is perfect, but I'd be pretty disgusted if I lived in a society that allowed its government to treat people like second-class citizens because of something as trivial as sexual orientation. |
| Doctor_Whooves #698305 8 months ago |
But no, I don't think anything like making an issue of sexual orientation one way or the other was on the minds of the creators of FiM. This show is still marketed primarily in America, and in America an openly gay character on a children's program probably won't be socially acceptable for at least another decade or three. |

Biiiiiiiisexual! |

Sexuality aside, you used an insanely cute picture of Dash. |
| Anonymous #698406 8 months ago |
Bi-Sexual as FUCK! |
| Shintaha #698622 8 months ago |
But if her sexuality was revealed, that would only play to the 'mean butch lesbian' stereotype like that article talked about. I'd think they'd want to avoid that, but it doesn't matter. |

In season 4 FiM will have turned into a serious show about hot everyone-on-everyone action, adventure, shootouts, magic, and... yeah... |

"....however love not sex hasn't been decided."
wut? |
| Anonymous #698984 8 months ago |
Not really fair to cast her into that type, just because of her mane and her actions. There's nothing that says canonically about her sexuality, it doesn't really matter within the show. And quite frankly like someone said on a similar picture her actually being gay on the show would cause a PR shitstorm.
I'm also kinda against it due to that trope of her being done to death within the fandom. |
| Anonymous #699019 8 months ago |
She's just a tomboy, jeez, let it go. |
| Anonymous #699051 8 months ago |
I think they're all lesbians.
Dash is just extra lesbian. |
| Anonymous #699061 8 months ago |
Sucks to be a colt, eh? |
| AdrianBrony #699089 8 months ago |
I tghink the sentiment would be just as fulfilled if it were any mane cast or secondary cast member.
Dash might carry unfortunate implications, but say, fluttershy or pinkie pie? that would be just fine. plus, I don't like the term "asexual" to describe these, as that isn't a neutral state, that's a specific orientation. I think "undetermined" would be a better descriptor. |
| Anonymous #699107 8 months ago |
It's kinda funny people talking about sexual orientantion for characters on a kids cartoon.
In the words of a wise man: Don't know, don't care. |

normally you'd be right but there really are some parts of the world that need something to step up. that's the point of the image in the first place. especially in the US where a common way to discount the LGBT movement is to play it off as just a small group of people who would normally be statistically insignificant. in cases like that, any bit of support and representation is needed. |

This is a child cartoon. Sexual orientation is a more mature matter. |
| AdrianBrony #699144 8 months ago |
#699139
they already brought sexual orientation into the picture when they decided to have married couples. there isn't anything about it that makes it more "mature" than having straight couples. when I say sexual orientation, I don't mean they should talk sex, just romance or who they "like" |
| Anonymous #699163 8 months ago |
#699144
Married couples is not an example of sexual orientation. They never did stop for a second for talking about marriage, etc. They were most for parents or for comedy. Your are forgetting this series isn't about romance. It's only about friendship. |
| Anonymous #699219 8 months ago |
Well I honestly wouldnt even want them to change the way they handle it right now. Sure, a gay couple would not hurt, but its not the task of a cartoon to introduce such things, especially in an environment that is often hostile to such things. Like the guys above said, its a kids show and not about romance.
But, its still an interesting thing to discuss such issues using FiM :) |

Also, Adrian, now looking what you are saying, what you want would be counterproductive. Think. Let's put a lesbian character in the show. Parents who are okay with it would be okay. Parents who aren't okay would forbid children from watching, and Hasbro would lose money. Remember that not everyone is tolerant as bronies. Want a suggestion? Where I live LGBT does parades to call attention. Doing the same where you live would bring more attention to your point rather than putting what would probably be "a special guest" character for a single episode. If you want more rights, fight for them. You don't need to change what already exists, why don't you create your own series, distribute panflets, get signatures? I don't know how LGBT goes in the US, true. But where I live they are always making noise through their own ways, and it's being effective up to today. |

the point is, romance exists, and that means there is no argument to be made that having a gay couple would be too "mature" #699219 they don't even have to focus on it. it would be best if it's played off as no big deal and not turn an episode into focusing on romance. hecl, a couple wouldn't even be needed, just a passing mention of a character's preference like with rarity. #699227 I'm not saying it's going to solve everything, I'm just saying it would be nice is all. kids that get forbidden from watching it will probably have already seen the passing mention, meaning the idea that it's no big deal has already been planted. |
| AdrianBrony #699294 8 months ago |
basically, I think if they WERE to do iot, it should be done like this:
either a secondary character or mane character who already has preoccupations aside from romance so their romantic preferences don't change anything (pinkie pie or fluttershy, for instance.) or maybe a few couples in the background at an explicitly romantic event (there will mist likely be some sort of valentines day special eventually.) if it is an actual character, it would be best off not the ficus of the whole episode, and no more emphasized than the way rarity was about blueblood (one passing reference that mostly doesn't change anything not related to it.) the show isn't focusing on it, or romance at all, yet it still normalizes the subject. |

Romance is more played for laughs, see SpikexRarity and RarityxBlueblood. I agree with would be nice, but it sincerely won't help a bit. In fact, it would probably hurt your cause. Or do you think the media would play it in a positive light? |
