I always liked the duality of Princess Luna/Nightmare Moon. They could represent the light and dark side of the moon, respectively. Or imagine a change from Luna to NMM as the moon waxed and waned. It would've created an interesting problem for Celestia and the Mane Six. |

I realized earlier today that if Nightmare Moon and Luna were at the same place at the same time someone who didn't know any better might think that Nightmare Moon was Luna's mom (with her being bigger and older looking) |
