lol, I can imagine them having a blast about it. I know I would. Some fans just get to caught up over the fanon that they forget who gets the final say in these things. |

Personally I just figure they can have nicknames. Carrot Top = redhead, classic nickname, even if her real name is Golden Harvest.
I mean, what parent in their right mind would name their foal Derpy? Her real name is probably Bubbles, or Misty, or the like. (Misty works for me because (a) it's something you could get from her coat color when she was a foal, and (b) it's an easy rhyme with Ditzy for kids at school.) |

Fairly sure that her parents may also possess 'the derp' which in turn may influence their naming decisions. |

The Names have been interchangeable. I don't see why this has become an issue as of late. |
