@284 She stood up to the Ursa Minor, even though she knew it would kill her. She could just have easily abandoned Ponyville.

Rewatch the episode.

She first tried to do something, then she ran. She was trying to save her own skin.

Think like this: you have a gun and saw a monster. You would probably shoot first, then see it didn't affect it, then run. It's natural.

@419 That makes it even more surprising that she didn't run away. She admitted nobody could defeat an Ursa Minor, so she basically fought a suicide battle against it.

@459 She wasn't cornered, though. She could have gotten away pretty easily.

But also in that scene, she does something I've never seen a villain/antagonist do before. She actually admits where she was wrong and tries to correct the problem she indirectly caused. She can't be all bad. If the writers wanted a complete dickhead as their antagonist, Trixie could have just never admitted she was lying and thrown some random passers-by at the Ursa or something.

Basically, the case that most Trixie fans try to make is that one episode isnt enough to judge a character (imagine if Dragonshy was the only episode with Rainbow Dash, everyone would just think she was an asshole). Especially when said character shows signs of a multidimensional personality.

How do you run from a giant bear? It was pretty clear it could ran over anypony.

I just rewatched the episode. It was pretty obvious she was lying, and if you noticed, she lost all her composure at the moment. Also, she makes up at the end, regaining her composure and not accepting Twilight as superior.

Also, she would never throw random passers. Remember, this is a kid show.

The funny thing about last remark is that Gilda and Blueblood are constant judged, with only one episode. And nobody cares.

@484
Gilda acted like a complete asshole, but she lost her friend for it. It's arguable whether she actually deserved to lose Rainbow Dash as a friend, but considering she bullied everyone and stole from a market stall, people don't feel sympathy to her.

Trixie, however, rolls into town and puts on a FREE show. Ponyville loves it (there's several shots of the audience cheering) except for Applejack, Spike, Rarity and RD, who start heckling Trixie. She shows them up, as you'd expect an entertainer getting heckled to do.

You may argue that Trixie was being a douchebag throughout the episode, but here's where people feel sympathy for her - she got her house and all her possessions crushed. That's a karma overload right there. Gilda acts like a dick and loses a friend who she didn't seem to value too much anyway. Blueblood does some stuff and nothing bad happens to him, so people don't care. Trixie makes up a story to improve her performance and shows up hecklers, and in return her house gets destroyed. Sure she might have deserved to get her lie exposed and shown up in front of everyone, but she didn't deserve to lose her house. That's why people feel bad for her.

So, if Gilda was a cutsy pony instead of a griffon, you think people would treat her the same way?

Trixie put the show in order to boast her own idea. You know, like those people in class who dance behind the teacher and do other stuff. She was caring more about people idolizing her than making others happy. Seriously, what do you think she thought:

"I will put the best show to make everyone happy."

Or

"HAH, NOW EVERYPONY WILL SEE TRIXIE WAS THE BEST MAGICAL PONY EVER."

She sure did lost her possessions, but like yourself said, Gilda lost a friend. Also, there is no fact they were her only possessions, so it's mostly fanon. Third, she didn't appear to care about it. Do you think if they were her only possessions, she would cry, rant or do something like that? Nope, she justs snicks and leaves.

Put on show expecting no compensation. Have everything you own destroyed and (depending on whether on not word spread beyond Ponyville) your reputation and possibly your career ruined. Deserve no sympathy?

For some people (and ponies too), filling their ego is their compensation. Also, you have no way to be sure it was everything she had... and even if it was, have you ever see a poor pony in Equestria? Remember, this is a candybowl world we are talking about.

Also, she could appear at any other city later. You can't say that news of Trixie would flew like wildfire, everywhere.

Yes, it made her happy, dosn't change the fact the ponies had to pay nothing to be entertained.

Yes, a sugar bowl were the main characters live next to A FRIGIN DEATH FOREST WITH GIANT STAR BEARS, DRAGONS, FLOWERS WITH A MEAN SENSE OF HUMOR THAT CAN HORRIBLY MUTATE YOU, AND CREATURES THAT CAN TURN YOU TO STONE WITH A GLANCE! Also please show me proof there are no poor ponies?

Yes Im sure having a village being destroyed and YOU being blamed for it (To the village it would seem like Trixie was the inderect casue of the Ursa attack) would have NO effect on your career as a preformer, when your act was the thing blamed for city destruction. O wait, no it would completly destroy any shred of a reputation she ever had.

But it changes the fact her intentions weren't noble. Not even a bit.

lol, you know you are overracting. Seriously, the world of Super Mario is more dangerous than that. And want proof? Easy. Look around Ponyville. Is there a single poor house there? Nope. Look at Canterlot (it may be a bit harder since there isn't closeup), is there poor ponies there? And now, tell me, are you telling me that they have poor ponies, even through a village and the capital doesnt?

Except by the fact Twilight punished Snails and Snips in front of everyone. You should watch the episode again.

Yes her intentions were diffrent, but her actions, throwing a free show, stayed the same. See demanded something that a person requires nothing to lose, to give to her. I'm sure actors enjoy their fame, and they still get paid. In the show, it looked like the ponies just walked into the crowed, no pay. You can get food, clothes and real stuff with money, you can't get anything more then a bigger ego with what Trixie demanded.

Yes Im over-reacting when I did not even mention the evil god of chaos who can warp reality and came very damn close to winning forever and turning Equestria into the imagination of a crazy person. Do we know every last person in ponyvile? YOU HAVE TO PROOVE THERE ARE NO POOR PONIES, I DON'T HAVE TO PROVE A NEGATIVE! I don't see poor people every time I walk through my home town, does that mean their are no poor people their? Sides, their are rich ponies (Blueblood, Hoity Toity, ect) which implies their is a difference in pay among ponies, which also implies their are poor ponies.

Yes Snips and Snails got blamed, still dosn't change the fact that Trixie is also going to be blamed for it too. Who would you blame if you were in the villages place, the person who (to you, it was realy spikes fault) said they could do something that as far as we know is immpossilble, or the gullible children who were misslead into bring the creature in. Who to blame, the person who corrupted the young minds, or those young minds who were lied to. Since thats what the village sees, it would be much easier to blame Trixie for the thing. Im also sure they would punish Trixie if she didn't run away.

You do know that fame brings money, right? Lots of politicians, rich people, etc. likes to throw free events. And they do collect their fruits for it later. Also, like Diamond party, throwing a party just to inflate your own ego isn't noble nor charitable. As you agreed, her intentions were different. And her intentions weren't noble, so it doesn't matter. That would be like saying Lex Luthor (Comics) or a real politician is a good sport for throwing something free.

Discord didn't kill a single thing. Discord also didn't hurt a single thing. He is more like a trickster than a real villain.

Yes, I am pretty sure we do, since we saw the entire village a couple of times. And you avoided my argument. But if you want, I will prove it: there wasn't a single poor house on the capital and Ponyville. And as far the cartoon goes, that is the only world there is. Maybe then can add it later, but right now, it doesn't. Also your argument is irrelevant: you can't compare real life to a fictional world. Besides, just because they are rich people doesn't mean they are poor. There is a valid form of economy, which isn't used, who shares the minimum conditions for everyone and also allows people to get more. Try again.

You are speculating. You cannot prove this is what they would have thought. The maximum I would say was that she lied about her power, not that she brought a giant Ursa that she had no power of dealing with. And if they really wanted to punish her, they would have gave chase. The only person on insisted on it was Rainbow Dash, for obvious reasons.

Your problem is that you are forgetting that ponies aren't humans in pony skin. They don't have the same level of malice as human beings does.

Yes but unlike Lex Luthor, Trixie wasn't doing the free thing as a cover up for a plan to rule the world. Also ego boost or not, it made other happy, for free, throwing a party/magic show for free is a good thing, no matter what why you throw it.

We also saw discord cause well, discord. Theirs also Celestia talking about how evil he was for while, and him breaking up the friendship of the mane cast, when he only needed just one. Also giant death bear, one even attacked the village. Reptile chicken that can turn you to stone until its will is broken, dragon who can block out the sun over a entier village. You never countered those, you just said I was over reacting those still sound terribly awful to live right next to.

I only remember seeing the entire amount of ponyvile, we never saw inside the house of anyone other then the mane cast, once again you also proved nothing. The other cities we see, was Appaloosa, which I was under the impression it was recently built. Manehatten, which we see applejack walk down a single road, and I never saw the inside of any canterlot houses, I was also under the immpresion canterlot was a rich only place. Fine I never wanted to use this example specificly but fine. We also never see ponies poop or mate, does that mean ponies don't do that? No, is it wrong to assume just because we don't see a common thing that it does not happen, yes that is wrong.

To the village it looked ilke Trixie influenced the young dumb ponies into bringing in a death bear, the least they would do is spread overexagirations of how Trixie nearly destoyed their town. Its common sense.
