They want to be your friends
Would you like to know a fantastic world filled with little magical talking horsies? This is the new adventure that Discovery Kids will bring to you starting Monday, I bet you're not even reading this, so I'm gonna just type whatever. So, how's it going? Pretty sweet to be too old for this show, right? This translation rules. |

I wish I could speak german |

"little magical talking horsies?" prfff I almost spit in the computer screen, but the original text in spanish was that made me blush, he he.
Well, that´s a good preview for the incoming show in spanish in Mexico. I hope I will see better and better comments in the media as the show advances. |
| PowerToole #684625 8 months ago |
Well, how would you translate "caballitos mágicos que pueden hablar"?
That's "little magical talking horsies". Don't blame me, I don't work for El Norte, whatever the hell that is. |
| Anonymous #684641 8 months ago |
^"El Norte" is the name of a newspaper. I almost forgot how the show airs in Mexico this Monday. I probably should be excited, but I'm not. I don't wanna be a pessimist, but I just KNOW some of the voices are gonna suck. A lot. |
| PowerToole #684669 8 months ago |
^I don't think that's being pessimistic. I think you're being realistic.
I'm not even gonna watch it. What do I need? A rage-induced stroke? The show is full of untranslatable puns and I expect, based on previous experiences, a mediocre job at translating the songs, at best. Just think of "Owl's Well That Ends Well". A pun in the fucking title and from there most of the jokes are based on the misunderstanding of the word "who". A translator's nightmare! Abbott and Costello all over again. I don't know when it airs here in Chile. I hope it never does. |

They spelled '80s wrong, I think. Sounds like it was saying it's 80 years old. Should have said something like "iniciar en 1986." |

I love how the headline is entirely feminine, then they include Spike in the picture. |

¡Son ponis, no caballitos!
(They are ponies, not little horsies!) |
| PowerToole #684736 8 months ago |
^Hey, you're right!
The word should be "amigos" instead of "amigas" by merit of the presence of Spike. Damn, how patriarchal can a language be? |
| Flutterguy #684747 8 months ago |
En que pais es esto? |
| grumpie_pie #684757 8 months ago |

^I wanna say Mexico... |
| Anonymous #684768 8 months ago |
In my experience, after watching the whole series (until now) with the original voices, it will need a MIRACLE to do a similar job in any other language. For the record, it happened before with other shows, but those are the exceptions. That´s why I´m not giving high expectations on this particular case.
I´m just thankful they kept their original names. |

@grumpie_pie
But I really really REALLY wanna be Spike's friend! ![]() |

Fuckkk ... Study spanish for 3 years and I fully understand this. Just to read the same is simple explanation behind the boxes of these toys. However I could expect from single spreading claiming to be a reportage.
At least if you do Bronis in other countries should say something witty. This is the kind of shit which avoid seeing this cartoon. |
| SakuraAyanami #685042 8 months ago |
@Wheezie_Moonflower actually, in spanish by putting "los" before "años 80" it indicates that the sentences is about a time period so it's saying "in the 80s". For the sentence so say "it's 80 years old" it would be "tiene 80 años" |

Hmmmm... I'm kinda excited honestly, then again, I know the dub won't be the same quality as the original... And no, I support dubbing, everyone that lives in Mexico should know that our dub... Errr... Used to be one of the best on the world, sadly... It needs a better adaptation on the script... And kickout the one that voiced Applejack, seriously, those are the bigger flaws in the dub... ANYHOW! I'm still exicted for it! |
| Anonymous #685632 8 months ago |
¿Alguna ayuda? |
| ZePassionateOne #685948 8 months ago |

^Ah crap. This is what happens when someone talks about voice acting, I get to bloody excited. |
| Moidock #686148 8 months ago |
