This episode offered plenty of weird front profile shots. |

Maybe they were making up for the abundance of plot in the entire rest of the series. |

Oh gog do the first three creep me out. The last one doesn't, for whatever reason. |

Twilight had similar facial expressions during Lesson Zero. |

I think what creeps most people out would be the top teeth. I find these smiles enjoyable. |

Love these faces.
#1: "Hey, you've got a pretty good singing voice. Wanna play 'Spreadeagled and Pinioned'?" #2, #3: the idea sinks in. I think #4 is probably a "yes" of sorts, though possibly not the way round Fluttershy intended. |

I don't think the faces were creepy, just a little bit weird. |

OMG THEY HAVE LOWER LIPS!?
This is what made them look like that. I'm already used to it. |

The reason why they seem "weird" is because their mouths have no connection with their face. What I mean is, a smile typically encompasses and deforms the whole face, making it seem more convincing and alive. In the above three pictures, the mouths appear to be strangely isolated from the rest of their face, as if they were merely pasted on. The last image doesn't do that because the smile actually affects the entire face to some degree. Failing to illustrate a full connection of movement in the face can make expressions difficult to discern and look fake. |
