Her name is Applebloom just like her big sister's name is Applejack, not Apple Jack. |

@Jackarunda: But Apple Bloom is the official spelling. "Bloom" doesn't have to be her last name, y'know. It could be a double name, like "Lori Beth" or "Mary-Jane". |

They don't have last names. They sometimes have two or three names, but they don't have a family name like humans do. |

Actually, they have a family name -- Applejack refers several times to "the Apple family," such as in the Gala song and in Applebuck season. They just don't use the family name as part of their own. |

I think ponies do have last names. It's just that pony naming convention is aesthetic first, i.e. they don't use their surname in their normal name unless it flows well and sounds at least descent, like Pinkie Pie or Rainbow Dash. Though in cases like Applejack and Apple Bloom, we already know their surname and that it doesn't flow well with the rest of their names (Applejack Apple and Apple Bloom Apple). So if Applejack had to introduce herself formally (which probably wouldn't be often, given her laid-back, down-to-earth nature, she'll generally introduce herself informally), she would be "Applejack of the Apple family."
If we assuming a pony's second part of their name is their surname unless contrary evidence is provided, then we know the surnames of five of the six. We're just missing Fluttershy's. |
