Not really, it's not permanent. Only the primaries were clipped. She'll shed those at a later date and regrow them. Better than clipping the wingtips so she never flies again. >:D |

Hee, you can tell when people don't know birds. :D The only time clipping ACTUALLY grounds a bird is if that bird has never been allowed / taught to fly ( and I think clipping before a bird knows how is rediculously cruel! ), but a clipped bird that's been flying for years, like Gilda, will still be able to fly, it just requires more effort and it would have less control.
I used to own pigeons and though I didn't want to clip them, he'd spook occassionally when I first got him so I clipped his wings to prevent his crashing into walls. It didn't stop him flying, but he'd fly slower to where he could realize he was about to smash into a wall before he actually did it and remember to land. |
