Agreed. I tried to trade in my one DS game. They offered my $5 for it, even though they were selling a used copy of the same game for $25.

I spent about 10 minutes trying to haggle with the guy, to no avail, so I just left.

marioandsonic understands supply and demand perfectly. Clearly if they already have a copy of that DS game they're going to offer nearly as much as they're selling the copy they already have for.

Never try to trade in or sell your games. Ever. If you do, you'll end up with a few cents, no game, and a pissed-off-attitude. I like gamestop. They always have the new releases when I want them and that's all I care about.

Hey Cyber, sure don't expect to get the same amount for a copy they already have, but would it kill them to give you at least HALF of that? Hell, buy any new game at full price, come back in a few minutes later, try to trade it in unopen, they give you about 15-20 dollars. Fuck Gamestop.

One-fifth (cash out) to one-fourth (store credit) of the resale value. That's the usual price for a chain store with a distrisbution center. They have to set the buyback price real low to keep the whole business running. The nationwide giftcard program they use costs them serious bucks, they have to cough up 20% on the value of the gift cards bought outside of Gamestop store, like in gift card centers. That gets worked into operating expenses, and against the buyback prices. The only time you will want to go there to sell is when you've outgrown that one console and looking to upgrade. Go to any mom & pop videogame store, if they still exist in your area, and you might get a better buyback price. Heck, try a pawn shop.

Even crackheads think gamestop is a rip-off.
