Finding oil doesn't turn fertile land into arid desert. Besides, what would they use it for anyways? Not the trains, they emit white vapor, which indicates steam. Yes, steam generated by a boiler, but those were coal and wood powered. Most likely in Equestria, it's magic fueled. Besides, everyone knows the really pure grade applesauce HAS to be pumped up from beneath the ground, from liquified remains of prehistoric applesaurii, which roamed Pre-Equestria. and THAT'S how Equestrai was made! |

Unless you clear all the local trees for wood and to make transportation easier and because workers running around trumble all the green from the ground. I doubt you'd find any mining field that is not arid, most likely purposefully too. |
