Noooo, the song came first. And the fic itself is incredibly flawed. :3c The fic itself was based on the song. The cheesiest line is Aurora's "any meeting of a friend" line.
I thought the last line was quite poignant, especially considering the various references to Rainbow's eyes throughout the fic, and the theme of the pursuit of beauty and glory gone horribly amiss. |

It's silly, that's what it is. If a line completely pulls me out of the experience and makes me laugh. Then, somebody did something wrong.

Yeah. This line really sucked. The story would of been much better if the author hinted that the person was Rainbow, and never pulled that whole crazy thing, which really killed the fic for me. |

Rainbow factory was a decent gridfic, but too predictable, once they started talking about the mysterious origins of septa and rainbows, Soylent green dialogue started running through my head.

Predictable, pedestrian, and frankly overwrought. The problem with basically all the "dark" fics. They fall into self-parody almost instantly thanks to incompatible states. |

It's funny. Almost all the Cupcakes art is freaking terrible. The Rainbow Factory art is WAY better, which is weird considering the fic is extremely flawed compared to Cupcakes. (Cupcakes was torture porn and did what it intended. RF is a pretty silly story used as an excuse for grimdark torture and death) Makes me wonder how amazing the eventual art for "The End of the Rainbow: Director's Cut" will be considering how ridiculous that story is even compared to the other 2. Want to read a grimdark fic where Dash dies and it's not contrived? Read The Cough. Want to read a horror fic that creeps you out and Dash doesn't need to die for impact? Read The Silent SHore. |
