Having more potential identifiers for ponies in the tags is better than having less. Removing tags just because you think it shouldn't be tagged with that, when a lot of people DO think it should be tagged with that - even if it's tongue-in-cheek use - seems to me like a clear case of Not Getting It. Unless you're the site owner, you don't have any more say than anyone else in deciding what tags are valid and what tags aren't. Thus, the better solution is to leave that tag in, for the people who DO consider it valid. You're fighting a pretty stupid war here. Not to say there's been any non-stupid wars. Especially not on this site, and I hate myself for getting myself into arguments like this.
When the tag in question is a name that the animators have said they use to refer to the pony, it's more canon than a 100% spawned by fanon name. Not to say I'd ever argue for the removal of commonly accepted fanon names, because that would be an equally retarded thing to do. In general, removing tags, unless they're completely unrelated to the picture, is stupid. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some images to tag. |

I don't really feel the analogy here. The reason they deleted all mention of Lyra was out of some misguided sense of canon, where only things that have been acknowledged by Hasbro exist.
There was an still is a huge fandom revolving around Lyra, but still most people have accepted one way or another that Heartstrings is the official name. This case here is pure, pointless faggotry. Anyone who thinks that we need to tag a character, who already has two distinct tags, with an additional tag is either a troll or an MLP wiki moderator. |

We should at least use the "Incidental_Unicorn_2" tag for images referencing the "Incidental Unicorn #2" name (like with the "Lyra_Heartstrings" tag). |
