I think AzureAngelic's got it right.
Gathering up four flying critters and holding a race isn't a 22 minute episode. There's an element we're not seeing yet that will give the episode an actual story. |

I'm guessing that owl is female, because no male characters have eyelashes - at least, I don't think any do.
I think the most two likely to win the RACE will be the falcon and the eagle. The one that will become her pet? We'll have to wait and see. It'd be interesting if she ends up taking the race-winner at first (which would fit her personality of always winning) and then replacing him (probably with the bat, unless the bat IS the jerk) when she finds out he's a jerk to other ponies and their pets, and there we get the moral. |

It definitely won't be the owl, seeing as that'd be redundant.
The bat seems cutest, which makes it a strong contender, but I kinda like the hawk or falcon or whatever the not eagle one is. Though odds are also pretty good it'll be something else not pictured, I think. |
