Yeah I have to admit, I get kind of annoyed when fans just "decide" which names belong to which fan characters. It's good to have some kind of agreement among fans, but when it's a name as silly as a brand of toothpaste, is my "real" problem with it. In situations like these, we can just assume she came from a bowling family, but found her true passion for extreme jacks. It's possible, but I never cared for human names for ponies whether it be "Alley Way" or "Jackie" xD I woulda called her Onesies. But thats just me.

Nah, Allie Way is catchy. And one guy bitching about it is hardly enough reason to change a name. More importantly, it's just an unofficial fan-appointed name - as is such with all the other unnamed background ponies. If you don't like it, don't use it - it's that simple. Nothing to start a pointless shitstorm over.

Who if not the fans supposed to give names to background characters (tho, you used "fan characters" definition here, which makes no sense)? No, really, I'm curious - who? How do you plan to get agreement between ALL the fans? You do realize it is juts no possible, even the almighty Internet won't help here. You know, this reminds me about the situation with Screwball. When episode just aired, 4chan (and in some other places too) quickly named her with a simple name Screwball. Then I uploaded first screenshot of her with this tag and it seems the name appealed to most fans. But of course there was someone who didn't like it. Ponychan. Some artist from DA came up with her own name, Topsy Turvy, and even more than that, she made a vote topic on Ponychan to choose between two names; Screwball and Topsy Turvy. The second one won, lol and thus the pony was "officially" named as Topsy Turvy, lol. Where is this "official" name now? You take things way too seriously and way too close to heart (it is not really good for your sanity). It seems that most of the fans already fine with "Allie Way" and it happened quite naturally. Why so raeg then?

Kein calm your face, it's not a big deal. And when I said "fan characters" I obviously meant background characters since that's the topic at hand. And it's pretty silly to insinuate that I think that there can be a unified agreement on fan names given to background characters. It can't possibly happen, and its nice to have most people agree names. But it's also really silly to think that all of them are good names. All that really matters is that when the pony is mentioned, people know who they're referring to.

There's other things that Allie could do that would merit the mark: work at a diner, work at a movie theater, etc. - anything that would have been popularized during the Googie movement, as such her talent being related to fun activities of that period.

@675818: Well, Lyra and Octavia are human names. Trixie is a human name too, and that's canon! While I do think that most human names (for example Bethany or Richard) don't make very good pony names, the fans are usually pretty good about making up good names. I mean no offense to people here that are named Bethany or Richard, those are just the first female name and the first male name that popped into my head.
