Why is she mad? 9.5 is amazing, unless IGN gives everybody a 10 or something.

Don't you see? Giving it a just below perfect score obviously means they hate the game and think it's complete garbage!

It depresses me that there are really people who think this way.

I see it as a huge inflation of score. Bethesda loves to release their games buggy and partially unfinished, leaving that to the modders.

They had to build a brand new game engine to replace all the bits and pieces they've borrowed in the past. Pretty impressive work. The user interface takes some of the score down. Should be able to set up inventories into a controller's scroller wheels. Natural mechanics/physics feel scripted, too.

I think the submission next to it is what makes it make sense. a Zelda game gets 10 and an elder scrolls game only gets 9.5, what a rip-off.. says whoever submitted this

If you seriously think a 9.5 isn't good enough, please stop breathing.
IMO no game should ever get a 10 unless it's truly timeless and can be enjoyed by absolutely everyone, which will never happen

For what it's worth, there are some pretty substantial bugs in the game as-is. A friend of mine actually can't go to the capital city (please pardon my inability to remember its name, I don't have the game myself) because whenever he tries, the level geometry fails to load, causing all the city's residents to fall to their permanent deaths.

10 would imply that the game is perfect, however skyrim has afew glitches in it... most likely to be fixed. then it will be perfect.

I've never understood why people judge things based on some silly numbers. And despite what some people may think, a game not getting perfect marks all around is not on the same level as some crazy bastard shooting all your dogs and making your parents' skeletons into furniture.

When I read reviews, I don't care about the numbers; I'm more interested in getting a better idea of what a game is like. Sometimes it's even refreshing to just ignore reviews and take a risk. Torneko: The Last Hope was one of my favorite PlayStation titles and my introduction to the roguelike genre, and it got bad marks all around. One of its worst reviews was from PSM, where some reviewer gave it a 1/10 and said it was worse than Atari stuff. Said reviewer probably had been spoiled by all those 3D cinematic RPGs and was butthurt that it dared to be a 2D random dungeon game. And has never even played an Atari game.

tl;dr Just use reviews as a guideline and don't treat scores like a religion. You'll have a much more varied gaming palette.

9.5 ? The PC version deserves a solid 7 till Bethesda patches it, or much more likely the fans will fix it themselves.

what irks me is that the graphics seem to be way below what we saw in the trailer. also the depiction of distant objects sucks up way to much performance. the fancy looks usuqally stop after 50 meters. kinda fucks up the view from high places

Uh guys, I think you all missed the joke. It says "does it live up to the legacy of its ancestors? Watch the review and find out!" but it already displays the score for the game.

It could be a lot worse. One reviewer (not sure if it was on IGN or not) gave Skyward Sword a 7.5. Personally, even though that's against the trend, I don't really care that much. My problem is that one of the main critiques in that review was the motion controls... which have been almost universally PRAISED elsewhere. The guy also said something about "waggling not working as well," apparently completely oblivious to the fact that you're not SUPPOSED to waggle in this one like you did in Twilight Princess Wii.

But, then again, this is why I tend to look at aggregate scores rather than individual ones. Not to mention, I've played plenty of games with scores of 7 and lower that were quite fun and enjoyable. Really makes me wonder why I bother with reviews sometimes.

It'd get a 10 if it weren't because GIANTS AAAAAAAAUGH

Giants are clearly Celestia's footsoldiers sent to invade Skyrim, because holy shit hello moon.
