No. No he's not. There are a thousand other characters who can do trolling better than him, and in a more entertaining fashion.
Besides, most of his plan relied on the ponies being maxinum idiots. And you spelt Discord wrong in the tags. |

Well, to be fair, the ponies WERE maximum idiots during most of the episode. You can't blame Discord too much for being overconfident. |

To be fair, the ponies ARE maximum idiots several times during the series. Several episodes would be solved in 2 minutes if some of them just used their brains. |
