Discord didn't speak in hilarious similes though. Nor did he absorb one of the ponies to become some godforsaken abomination that was completely invincible until some borderline asspull, awesome as it was. Nor did he threaten to destroy all of reality even AFTER he was defeated. Discord went out like a punk. Dimentio decided everyone was going down with him. Nor did he actually insta-kill any of the heroes from out of nowhere just so his plan could succeed. And Dimentio was originally just one of the big bad's minions. I'd have to say, while Discord outdoes Dimentio in terms of hilarity(similes can't be compared to exploding chocolate milk), Dimentio beats Discord easily in sheer power, insanity, and frightfulness. |

Why not just use Kefka? Although I guess Dimentio is funnier and would fit in better with the sugar-bowl Equestria setting, as dark as he was.
While Dimentio is one of my favorite Mario villains, I feel like part of what made him so good was the SPM plot as a whole. Count Bleck, as omnicidal as he was, cared his minions, received love from them in return, and was motivated by heartbreak. Dimentio only had pawns and was the complete antithesis of the game's theme of love. In other words, you'd have to plagiarize pretty much the entire plot of SPM in order to write another Dimentio. |
