The fans don't make the show. The show makes the fans.

The virtue of ANY 'for little girls' show to even be as half as witty and uninsulting even to the mature older viewer, it needs to be celebrated.

The haters thinks it's a crooked nail or an anomaly to nail down and they're making a big stink over what is basically an animation miracle.

That kind of stuff only usually happens with anime which usually target teenagers anyway. Especially considering that the draconic animation restrictions in North America puts all kinds of weird limitations on what cartoons can even show.

Any fandom you're not a part of is by definition going to think their interest is better than you do. De gustibus, etc.

Which is to say, you don't need to tell us that, just chill, have a juice box, and go enjoy something else. Peace and love.

Maybe I get this one.

I watched Friendship is Magic I and II before discovering there was a fandom for the show at all. It was a cleverly-written, gorgeously animated (by today's standards, certainly) show that managed to drag a pesky tear out of me near the end. It never felt like a stereotypical girls' show, and I think that's exactly what Ms. Faust wanted. I've kept up with the episodes and there have been delightful scenes and segments that seemed to fall flat, but it's certainly worth a watch every week (or so.)

Now, after maybe nine months with the fandom, Princess Celestia has her graceful snout in everypony's no-no region, Pinkie Pie's fallen for or filleted Fluttershy, Princess Luna waxes poetic about the delicious aroma of her big sister's haunches (my bad,) and ponies from Hasbro's general-purpose corral hold each others' manes back and lovingly nuzzle their newborn foals and live decidedly adult lives.

Maybe the original confessor was expecting something that catered to an older audience?

tl;dr: Was it a little girls' show, or a children's show?

I love the show, but I really hate the fandom. Well, mostly of it.

The show makes the fandom.

I mean seriously, just look at these comments. Do you think I come here just because I love reading these so much?

It's a good children's show that practically anyone can watch. I got into the show in February when the show EXPLODED. And watched all 15 episodes that had been released. I saw an enjoyable cartoon for all ages not just something specific for age group. Now I ran into EQD less than a week later and I've been part of the fandom since. I love most of the content produced. Save for the recent things in the past 2 months but I still remember I'm here for the show. Which is something many people forget.

I think what the op means, is that the fandom tries to make the show seem better than it is, and it gets annoying at times.
Which I agree with.

0079 here again

@Jiranis. Yes I do believe the fandom is guilty of overrating the show. But then again all fandoms have a tendency of doing it. Though being overrated does not mean something is terrible.

The extreme fans overhype things too much. But they do it to defend/show how much they are into the show. I'm fine with others not liking the show, but come on, to not like a show because of the way fans act about it is freaking stupid.
