First off, Fuzzy, calm down.
If you rage, people will just make fun of you.
Second, the tag is Soarin', with an apostrophe.

So it's Soarin'.

So his...his NAME has an apostrophe? That's really, unbelievably stupid. :D

apparently it's "Soarin" but with a "'" at the end of it.
repeat: " ' " at the end of it.

As I said before, the animator who named him named him after her son, Soren.

@Fuzzy_Logic
Many names have apostrophes. What's so stupid about it?

Soarin' is the canon spelling.

cite your claims, bro, pretty sure that's totally untrue

you can't take "oh well someone asked a random person from the show and they guessed" as "canon". The person who actually named him for the show named him after someone else named Soren. S o r e n.

So you're saying a name can't be a pun JUST because you don't like it that way in this instance?

I might need to search for it, but Faust said it.
also, calm down. you're taking this way too seriously.

there. proof that Faust herself spells it with an apostrophe.

that's about the post definitive answer you can get.

i don't really...care how she spells it? That doesn't mean that's how it is spelled you guys, she is not ultra president of the universe. <_< If the person who made him named him after her kid, it's pretty likely she's...wrong? Like she was when she typoed Big McIntosh?

Fuzzy, when you give someone or something a name, it can be anything. There is no "wrong" way to do it.
Why are you still fighting this?

I don't... understand what you mean with all those... ellipses, but this is Word of God. You don't get much more solid evidence than this. Denying this would be like denying reality. And I doubt anyone would typo a name using an apostraphe mark.

And before you say that it's a strange name, is it really so different in places with names like "Fluttershy" and 'Cup Cake"?

maybe because the pun works better with the apostrophe...

you know what? that's it, from now on I'm not going to argue with you anymore. it's like talking to a freaking brick wall.

and she didn't typo that, that's just how it was spelled when she was pitching it. the spelling got changed later on. but this is a different case.

We actually don't know the story of Faust's spelling. It could've been a typo. It could've been an earlier pitch that got rejected in favor of Macintosh.

Unless Faust recently said something.

Faust corrected herself when she made an error. She hasn't corrected herself here, so wouldn't it be reasonable to assume she spelt it right? And so, Soarin'... is named and tagged Soarin'.

I agree that may not be the easiest of names, and I think Soaren would be easier on my fanfic-heavy eyes. But canon is canon, and will your tirades will be regulated with cannon.

Faust never responded to any questions on his spelling. Pretty sure if you look hard enough, you can find some questionable things she's said that she's never gone back to clear up. But I don't feel like digging.

Also, I doubt Hasbro and the animation crew went with the "I" spelling and didn't tell her before she left. That sounds silly.

Also just a fun timeline I found concerning Mac.

Faust uploaded her Big Apple picture saying it was McIntosh in September.
Sibsy (citing scripts with him in it) said it was MacIntosh in October.
Hasbro (via toys) said it was Macintosh in November.

It's kinda funny looking at it.

^ The toys never said if it was "MacIntosh" or Macintosh" (they use an all-caps font, even though its I is shaped like a lowercase one).

I think the point here is that tags should make things easier to search for, not just be obscenely bound to exact and unintuitive punctuation.
