Yeah love and tolerance are not spoken in the show, but does having friendship mean love and and tolerance

Yeah I've always been curious about that.

"Love and friendship" is far more accurate, and I'd say preferable to plain old tolerance anyway! :D

I think Love and Tolerance is a fanon invention.

i.e. "I'm going to love and tolerate the s**t out of you!"

this is sounding almost like 2 denominations arguing whether the rapture is real despite the word never being used in the bible...
only slightly less pointless.

as far as I'm concerned, it doesn't need to be followed religiously, but I quite like a community that is more welcoming and less harsh.

It originated from the /b/ pony threads while dealing with gore spam and got sort of twisted over at ponychan

oh spare me. I saw "love and tolerate" being used for the reason it is today on /b/ and /co/ before ponychan ever came to be.

yes, ponychan can be a little too much of a circlejerk at times on some of the boards, but it's not THAT bad, and not the source of all the fandoms problems like some people like to imply it is.

"Love and tolerance" - the phrase, as a phrase - doesn't appear in any archived /co/ post prior to the show taking off on /b/ in February.

But the sentiment existed there as early as November.

Alas, I suspect it's impossible for a fandom to grow as much as ours grew without cracking at its seams.

I tend to stay away from the chans entirely too wild for me.

this isn't cracking at it's seams. it's petty raindrops that people take to mean that the sky is falling.

it's just the fandom going through puberty. these problems are zits, not cancerous tumors.

"I'm going to love and tolerate the s**t out of you!"

The more I see people arguing over petty things like OCs, the more I think this phrase really means a Pre-A**kicking One Liner to the haters.

The following is 100% true:
I used to have trouble controlling my temper and was harshly sarcastic and insulting to those around me.
Then I watched this show.
It's been 10 months since I last got angry and I try to be pleasant to everyone.
I feel this show has made me a better person.

Then I browse for FiM34 and then I just feel ashamed...
