I can agree with that to an extent. Black Ops stands out to me as the best one though, Modern Warfare 3 was a step backwards - I'm not enjoying it as much as I enjoy Black Ops. |

yes. I got back into FPS because of Nazi Zombies. Of course, I grew into the campaigns and multiplayer, but as for DLC, the Zombies maps were really the only maps that offered anything "new" 15 bucks for a map pack when all I want is the Zombies one? no thanks. (still got Rezurrection, though; least all the maps there were zombie maps lolol) |

I expect CoD and the like to run themselves into the ground if they keep up this yearly re-release crap. It's happened to many a game genre before, beat a dead horse until it's a flooded market. The only reason Madden can get away with it is ZOMGFOOTBALLSEASON and a monopoly on NFL licensing. |

You forgot to mention the gimmicks like Spec Ops mode or Kill Confirmed and the useless attachments like the Hybrid Optics. |

The one thing we don't want to admit, that we all know by now, is that it still freaking sells like hotcakes worldwide. COD is successful because of its wide fanbase who'd trample the next fucker for the $150 Special Collector's Edition. *sigh* That's why the only FPS games I play actually have a storyline to be intrigued with alongside an enjoyable multiplayer element. I've played it, not my cup of tea.
Let's admit it, without the multiplayer mode, COD is pretty much DOA(not the game DOA, the acronym). |
