Given that neither have their cutie marks, I'm guessing that they're kids in trouble with one of their parents.
I figure that fillies that are in trouble back into a corner like dogs that did something they weren't supposed to. |

@Verbose I think that Rarity and Sweetie are the same age in the picture as in the show. Rarity's obviously taller than Sweetie, and Sweetie herself looks like the same height as in the show. The lack of a cutie mark is likely due to either the artist forgetting to put one in, or simply omitting it to add to the simple-looking style. |

^ Forgot to add that it seems like they're about to be eaten/killed by something and are in a life-and-death situation, instead of simply in normal trouble. The most I think we've seen in the show when it comes to those kinds of fearful reactions is a raised front leg and lowered ears. The pose they're in looks more like something massive and mean is staring them down. |
