Zecora may not know that the Equestrians are largely ignorant of the disease.
Doesn't seem to help that Zebra-Pony relations aren't exactly the best. |

The disease appeared and dissapeared pretty quickly on its own. More than likely, Equestria just let it slip their minds when meeting Zecora's people. And why would Zecora know about some time period where Equestria was terrorized by a disease she knows. It's ancient history. |

Not to mention the fact that the cure wasn't known because people didn't know what caused it. Because Applebloom stole the thing that caused from Zecora, Zecora knew what had caused it and was able to formulate a remedy. |

It was a mysterious "unknown disease" because it wasn't really a disease at all.
It was caused by a plant that Zecora was familiar with, which either grows wild in the Everfree Forest, or was planted there by Zecora for her own use. Watching the episode, you can see that Zecora could have easily guessed what would happen, and might have had a cure in mind before Apple Bloom got her first mark. |
