It's not like we're saying "Scootaloo is in fact Rainbow Dash's daughter!" or anything like that (after all, Scoots is not related to Dash). The Fanon writers are merely trying to present backstories to popular Background characters that Hasbro haven't decided to delve into just yet.
Myself? I just let the Fanon writers do what they want without batting an eyelid (although I do draw the line at rule 34 and 'cupcakes'-like material). I don't mind Derpy being a mother; in fact I really quite like it, but I don't mind her NOT being a mother, either. It's like the whole "Ditzy/Derpy" or "Heartstrings/Lyra" argument again. Everybody is entitled to their own opinions and views of different characters, including names and families. None of this sort of stuff is truly canon (yet) anyway, so why the heck try to deny what isn't set in stone but written in the wind and swirling waters? |
