Assuming that the time travel is working the same way it did in Back To The Future, and Maplejack is thus willing to prevent her own birth to keep Dash and AJ from enduring the pain they suffer, then this has potential to make me shed manly tears |

This image makes it seem even more so than the last that AJ and Dash were attakked. Losing wings would be hard to hav happen in an accident, and both were injured at near the same time.
I'm gonna guess and say that someponies don't wanna see lesbians having babies together, and thus formed an angry mob. |
