I really think Equestria would be using miles if anything. Either that or they'd have their own measurements of distance.

I also think Equestria itself would only be a single nation in their world. The others would just accept that Celestia is not only the ruler of her nation, but the sun goddess of the whole planet.

@1970 the mile is actually pretty new, the late 1800's, so antiquated it is not. Obsolete possibly but since it is still widely used by a major population not so much. By those standards the word bushel would be obsolete due to the few small amount of people that use it.

Some day the world will finally admit that the huge 10:1 steps forced by the metric system, while easy to calculate, are clumsy and inefficient for actual measuring... And then they'll invent in-between units to cover the gaps, which will no longer be easy to calculate.
