Scootaloo tries to enter the competition, but she's pushed out for not being a "pet".
The contest ends in failure and Rainbow Dash finishes with no pet, but Scoot's efforts result in her finally learning to fly, as well as earning Rainbow Dash's favor. |

You guys knoe Scootaloo already knows how to fly, right? in Cutie Mark Chronicles near the start she zips around in the air when talking about Dash (after crashing and getting covered in sap, I think). |

I know there's almost no chance of it happening, but if Scootaloo was competing to be Rainbow Dash's pet, I'd love it if Pinkie Pie was her rival. They're both crazy about Rainbow Dash in some way, after all. |

Rainbow Dash has a pet. He is a turtle named Speedy, and he has balloons tied around him so that he can "stand" in Dash's cloud home. |
