Well put, 380. That said, the race thing has confused me a fair bit regarding Twilight. Mostly it's her mane. The stripes just scream semi-goth to me, and the preconceptions surrounding that particular subculture suggest whites are the norm. I don't know. Please excuse me, this isn't meant to be a race argument. It's just a bit jarring. |

I dont understand why they depict twilight as black. Wouldn't it make more sence that human Zecora is black since shes from africa? Which in turn would make unicorns some other race |

The only problem with Black Twilight is that her skin is darker then her mane and it produces a color contrast that differs from the pony Twilight.
Plus, people for some reason don't seem to know how to draw black people right and end up giving her some weird looking nose. |

^ This (plus anon437's comment). This is the artistic problem I have with Black Twilight.
In all the humanized pony art I've looked at over the year, not once have I seen any fanart of a dark-skinned Twilight that is visually pleasing. That goes double for Black Rarity and triple for any other "Black" character NOT named Zecora (and even most art of her tends to look bad) Plus, have you seen Tara Strong? She's about as white as you can get. For the record, I can't draw black people right, so I usually don't even try. It'd be nice if these "artists" would do the same. |

@OzarkBrony
I'm #648483 here, and noting you did a pretty good job expressing that properly. I'm not always very good at that. I tend to prefer humanizations that use a similar hair/skin contrast in shade. Some sort of olive tone usually seems to work the best for Twilight. Pale Luna on the other hand also bothers me, as does dark Celestia. Seriously, the contrast with those is all wrong. It can even be downright clashing at times. Forget the whole "tanning" thing for a second and just color them in a way that doesn't CLASH! Maybe Luna just inherited genes that don't require tanning to be dark, just whatever explanation you need to use colors that work right together. |

Well, exCUUUUUUSE me, people, for not drawing Twilight EXACTLY like the most stereotypical black people. Not all black people have the SAME DAMN NOSE.
I keep playing the style of her hair. It'snot always gonna be same. Jesus. I like black!Twilight because I like a diverse cast. I don't CARE if the VA is white as the fallen snow. She feels like a black person to ME, thus i shall draw her as such. Sapphire Shores was voiced by a black lady, but her coat was white as could be. She can't be black? She MUST be white? Nice logic there. I've been toying with the idea of an East Indian or black!Rarity. Fuck off. Besides, I'm trying to get black people drawn right as best I can. I use references where I can. I find it more troublesome and wrong to NOT draw them for fear of not drawing them right than to not draw them at all. That's ignoring them entirely. Anons, can you do better? |

Yes, because pale people can't have dark hair. -__- |

Dashie wins, with Applejack a close second, both being athletic types. Twilight comes a creditable fifth because she paced herself. Rarity didn't start: track too muddy and icky. Fluttershy second to last, sorry to say, after squeeing at all the bunnies and birdies. And Pinkie Pie wins, having transited via the 5th dimension. |
